Wedding Hangover Kit – Your Ultimate Guide

Don’t get me started on how many weddings I’ve been to and ‘indulged’ too much in the free alcohol.

And…

I’m sure you have too!

It’s okay, during the wedding season it’s perfectly acceptable to have one too many. However, making sure you’re covered for the morning after is an absolute must.

So!

What do you do if you’ve gone over the limit? Isn’t it obvious?

Pack a wedding hangover kit! Duh!

It’s pretty easy to create and this list will cover all necessities.

Weddings aren’t the only ceremony so our handy list will help you out with post-bachelor/ette party hangover nightmares as well.

Alright so, first things first, make sure you have a cute wash bag or string bag to fit all the items for your wedding hangover kit in. They’re all travel sized so you won’t need extra luggage!

Okay, here goes…

1. Extra strong mints or gum

Let’s be honest here, the morning after breath is not the most attractive thing. Especially if it’s been a heavy ‘wine’ night, you’re going to want some breath freshener.

Remember that aunt you haven’t seen in six years? Or her cousin’s niece?

Well, they remember you and they’re for sure going to give you a big hug and kiss to say hi. Absolute danger zone if you’ve been out the night before! Pew!

Probably best to make sure you’re on the safe side and have some strong minty gum, or even better mints because then you don’t have to dispose of them after.

2. Wet wipes

Did the bachelorette party get a bit out of hand? Did you end up not sleeping at home? Maybe you only have three hours to get to the wedding reception.

No time for a shower?

Oh dear.

Don’t fear!

Put some wet wipes/ baby wipes in your hangover kit and make sure you find a bathroom before you get ready.

A quick pat down will get you feeling fresh.

3. Travel sized toothbrush/toothpaste

If you don’t feel gum/mints have done the trick and you need to intermittently brush your teeth at the wedding then get a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste.

They’re not expensive!

And they’re so cute you can fit them in any hangover kit bag.

4. Dried fruit

I know, it sounds a little weird.

But!

There is a method to this madness. Basically, the fruit has potassium and fructose in it so it will help you sober up quicker and rehydrate.

Studies have shown that fructose, the sugar found in fruit, can increase alcohol breakdown by up to 80%.

An absolute must-have in a wedding hangover kit. Not only that but it’s yummy so you can nibble on a pack if you’re waiting for your main course for too long.

5. Rehydration sachets

Sometimes they taste a bit gross but when you mix them in a glass of water, they’re quite easy to knock back.

Small and flat, they can fit snug in your wedding hangover kit.

And they’re really great at rebalancing your lost salts after a heavy night. In fact, it’s probably one of the best ways to recover from hangover dehydration.

6. Band-Aids

We all know a bachelorette party can get a bit messy – so can a wedding. And if your wearing heels it can even get a bit painful.

Make sure you pack some band-aids for some painful blisters or any cuts induced from a nasty night of drinking.

Better to be safe than sorry, you know?

7. Deodorant

Or antiperspirant! Whatever floats your boat. Regardless, it’s nice to be fresh, isn’t it?

Some of the travel/mini ones are really cute and compact so will fit in a little wash bag and be appreciated by your guests.

Especially with so many people crammed into one space, it’s probably best to have some emergency deodorant in case the perspiration gets out of hand.

8. Tissues

We all know weddings can get a bit emotional. Whether you’re the bride, groom, bridesmaid or a plus one, you still might get teary.

Putting some nice scented tissues in the hangover kit will add a nice sentimental touch and when your hangover and a bit fragile it can be even more emotional.

Alternatively, some cute elegant handkerchiefs are a nice touch, don’t you think?

9. Chapstick

Alcohol can really dehydrate you and that means skin, lips, eyes, etc.

What is there to do other than drink water?

Well, drinking water is a good start but moisturizing the skin and applying chapstick to lips is a great idea.

Ladies, if you plan of wearing lipstick put a layer of chapstick on underneath so your lips don’t crack, it won’t look good in photos!

10. Ice packs

Now, this is a bit of a strange one and you may have only seen them when you grazed your knee at kindergarten.

But they’re great because you only have to crack and shake them for them to start working. Furthermore, they flat and packable and easy to transport.

Placing a lovely cool ice pack on your forehead upon waking up could be a game changer for the rest of the day.

Don’t believe me? Try it yourself!

11. Lavender scented cushions

Not large ones, of course.

Just those little ones, you know, the ones you might have seen in an underwear drawer that smell delicious.

Lavender is a calming scent and having a mini linen cushion filled with lavender is sure to calm a nervous bride or maid of honor.

You could even make them yourself and tie a ribbon around!

12. Paracetamol

Probably one of the nastier side effects of a hangover is the headache. Some paracetamol or ibuprofen as an anti-inflammatory will help soothe the pain.

Make sure you don’t overdose! Two should be fine to give you that extra bit of confidence for the rest of the day.

13. Make-up Remover

If things get emotional or the night gets a bit messy, the last thing you want is panda eyes.

Unfortunately, it’s kind of inevitable.

A little bottle of make-up remover and some cotton pads is a useful addition to make sure you’re fresh-faced for the big day.

It seems obvious, but you don’t want to look like a member from ‘KISS’ on the morning of a wedding.

14. A pocket fan

One of those cute fans you can classily fan yourself with if the room gets too hot.

Alcohol is a vasodilator which means the blood vessels widen and blood flows more freely.

This can make the body heat up and cause some sweating.

Avoid this by putting a small fan (electric or old-fashions) in a hangover wedding kit.

Where to buy wedding hangover kits

You can find wedding hangover kits online from websites like Etsy.
