YourSaint Hangover shot is a Danish invention claiming to cure your hangovers and is currently only available for purchase on their website.
We’re always looking for the best product to improve our hangovers, so naturally we were keen to test YourSaint.
Nowadays you can find hangover products in almost all different supplement forms including pills, drinks and patches. Now with YourSaint we have a hangover shot which is trying to compete with the others.
But does it stand a chance against the best hangover products on the market today?
To put YourSaint to the test, we’re going to take a close look at its ingredient list, dosing and method of delivery which is the most important aspect in determining if a product is worth buying.
With so many new products popping up, all of which claim to prevent hangover symptoms, its sometimes hard to separate the marketing gimmicks from the products that actually work.
So with the introductions out the way, lets get straight into our YourSaint review and take an all-round look into this product to see if it’s the real deal.
YourSaint – How its meant to work
Hangover cure supplements generally work by using a combination of natural ingredients to try and neutralise alcohols toxic by-products.
They use certain vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbal extracts to support your liver in breaking down alcohol at a faster rate as well as clearing one of the main waste products of alcohol metabolism – acetaldehyde.
That being said, there are also medical hangover cure products which aren’t natural like blowfish.
YourSaint is an all-natural hangover tonic and at the time of writing can only be purchased from their website at $31 for 3 shots (£24.50). That works out just over $10 (or £8) for a shot.
This puts YourSaint at the top end of the market with regards to price and is significantly more expensive than its rivals.
The material on their website suggests that YourSaint, “Turbo-charges your body’s ability to metabolise alcohol” and is “Super-hydrating”
It also looks the part with a sleek design and has been shortlisted for Wallpaper design awards.
However we aren’t too interested in design and the only thing that matters is whether YourSaint works or not.
To be able to determine this, the only thing that matters is the ingredients and their dosing.
With that in mind, lets take a deeper look at whats in YourSaint.
So we’ve had some trouble finding out whats in YourSaint as theres very limited information on their website, packaging and in fact anywhere else on the web.
The only ingredients we found listed are Ginger, Grape seed, Shitake Mushroom, Taurine and Vitamin C. and theres no dosing information…..
We don’t have much to work with here, but we’ll examine what we have:
GINGER – We applaud YourSaint for including this herb in their product as its one of the best for helping hangover symptoms. Its a natural anti-sickness remedy and has been shown in countless studies that it reduces the symptoms of nausea.
As this is one of the worst parts of being hangover, we think Ginger is a pretty crucial ingredient when it comes to hangovers.
GRAPE SEEDS EXTRACT – A powerful antioxidant which has been well-researched and shown it can improve blood pressure and cardiovascular health. Theres not much about hangovers, however given that antioxidants are essential for clearing alcohols by-products, its likely to be beneficial.
SHIITAKE MUSHROOMS – Normally we are more familiar with this in our favourite pan-asian cuisine as a tasty addition to our meal. These mushrooms are also a good source of Vitamin D as well as electrolytes such as copper and selenium. How much benefit they’ll have on your hangovers is debatable.
TAURINE – We like to see the addition of taurine in hangover supplements as its good at boosting energy. Its well known for its inclusion in sports energy drinks as it works synergistically with caffeine to improve performance.
Vitamin C – another well known anti oxidant which is found in all citrus fruits. Most people know it for its function at supporting the immune system and skin / gum health, but its also good for hangovers. This is because it helps your liver clear up free-radicals.
Firstly, we don’t have any idea how much of each ingredient is included in YourSaint which is bizarre to say the least.
From our understanding, it’s a legal requirement to have the dosing included on your website and packaging for consumer safety.
Are we supposed to simply trust it blindly?
Secondly, YourSaint only includes a handful of anti-hangover ingredients. Although it has good ingredients such as ginger and taurine, it’s missing several key ingredients like; B vitamins, DHM, Turmeric, Milk Thistle, NAC.
The list goes on.
The only reviews we found are the ones from their own website which unsurprisingly are overwhelmingly positive.
Seeing as they have full control of whats written on their website, we are concerned about their validity.
Most of the other products on the market are also available at independent retailers such as Amazon who generally have strict review submission processes. However, even these aren’t infallible.
So what can we make of the YourSaint reviews?
Not very much to be honest. We would have liked to see reviews on other websites which are not controlled by the owners for obvious reasons.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Going purely by trust that only whats listed on the website is included in YourSaint, we can say it’s unlikely to have any negative side effects.
The ingredients are all natural and most of us consume them in our day to day food.
If you have an intolerance or allergy to any of the ingredients, then of course you are likely to experience side effects.
Anything Else To Consider?
When it comes to hangovers, nothing is going to work like as a miracle cure. All of the products on the market today are designed as “hangover support” rather than “hangover cures”.
Common sense always applies and its always important to eat before going out and stay hydrated with regular cups of water between alcoholic drinks to prevent bad hangovers.
If you’re getting hangovers every time you drink, it suggests you’re likely drinking more than your liver can handle in each sitting. This is because the toxic by-products produced from alcohol break down are building up in your system which makes you feel rough.
YourSaint Review Final Thoughts
YourSaint is certainly a product that looks the part with a cool design and slick packaging.
However we never like to judge a book by its cover. It’s disappointing that we don’t know whats in YourSaint.
We like the idea of taking a concentrated shot for easy use at the end of your night. The pricing though, is very high for what it actually is. It’s significantly more expensive night for night compared to the leading products on the market today.
In Summary, It certainly doesn’t make it anywhere near our pick of the top hangover products.
